Health and Safety
Protecting our workers, clients, and historic worksites.
At 27 Build, all employees are responsible for their own safety, as well as that of others in the workplace. To help us maintain a safe workplace, everyone must be safety-conscious at all times.
Uncompromising Safety Standards
In compliance with California law and to promote the concept of a safe workplace, 27 Build maintains an Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The Injury and Illness Prevention Program is available for review by any employee in each work location.
Proposition 65 Warning
In accordance with California Proposition 65, we notify all personnel and clients that construction areas may contain or expose individuals to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Our hazard mitigation protocols are designed to aggressively contain and eliminate exposure.
Our Safety Directives
- Continuous Training: Every team member and contractor is thoroughly trained on site-specific hazards, including structural load management on historic buildings, scaffolding protocols, and hazardous materials handling.
- Environmental Hazard Mitigation: When dealing with paint restoration or masonry repointing, we employ advanced containment masking and negative air filtration to prevent lead, silica, and asbestos cross-contamination.
- Electrical Safety (Lockout/Tagout): Due to our deep integration with hybrid solar and wind arrays, strict LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) protocols are enforced daily on every panel and breaker map.
- Daily Site Audits: Job sites are audited at the start and end of every shift by the project superintendent to clear tripping hazards, secure materials, and ensure structural stability overnight.
- OSHA Compliance: We meet or exceed all federal and California OSHA standards for residential and commercial construction, preserving not just the history of the building, but the wellbeing of the crews restoring it.
Safety Violations and Discipline
Because of the inherent danger of construction and restoration sites, 27 Build enforces a zero-tolerance policy for reckless behavior. Disciplinary actions for safety violations undergo a strict progression:
- Level 1: Verbal and Written Warning
- Level 2: Immediate sending home, written warning, and brief suspension.
- Level 3: Final Warning and Suspension.
- Level 4: Termination.
"No deadline, schedule, or budget constraint will ever take precedence over the safety of our personnel."
